Artist sues Orrefors Kosta Boda
Today, Monday, January 29, 2024, the artist Ann Wolff is suing her former employer Orrefors Kosta Boda at the district court in Gotland and is requesting compensation of SEK 15 million for non-payment of royalties regarding the Snowball candle lantern.
Royalty payments to Wolff ceased in 1984 without there actually being support for it in their royalty agreement, and even though sales continued on a large scale both in Sweden and abroad.
Ann Wolff’s representative is lawyer Jens Tillqvist. The National Artists’ Association is included as a support for Wolff. The process contains many fundamentally important issues relating to design agreements, fair terms, and compensation.
– We know from contacts with our members that there are many bad agreements in the industry. Therefore, we believe that this goal is important, says Katarina Renman Claesson, federal lawyer at the National Artists’ Organisation.
